Introduction
The virtual office hours is based on software that automatically
updates and parses messages on a web-based archive. By visiting
this archive you can find discussions on all aspects related to
this course, by way of postings from your fellow students and from your
instructor. You can view all the messages, or if you prefer, you can
query the web site for messages by topic or by date.

send an email to the mailing list: majordomo@majordomo.math.arizona.edu
. For this purpose, make sure that you use the email address where
you regularly receive your mail.
The email subject line may be left empty. The body of the email message should say
subscribe scicomp
If the subscription process was succesful, you will be notified via
email.

end of the term . Do not send mail to the instructors regarding this...you will be

How to Participate
Full participation requires that you subscribe. Assuming you are
subscribed, you will be receiving an email message alerting you of any
NEW incoming messages to the archive. You will not be notified regarding
old messages.

To contribute a message to the archive
A good choice of subject line will increase your chances of any of
the instructors or students catching your message on the archive. Please
note that these messages are public and cannot be removed.

Please make your message brief and to the point , and if it is a question,
provide all the necessary
context so that either your classmates or the instructors can provide a
useful answer to your question. You can also post erratas, answers to
questions found in the archive, useful tips and information. You will be
flamed if you post messages that are not directly related to the
course, are inappropriate for public consumption, are explicit answers to
quizes, exams, homeworks, etc.
We encourage you to try answering questions posted to the
archive: teaching is one of the best ways to learn!
