Quantum Hall Effects, Berry's Phase and Superconductivity

Analysis, Dynamics, and Applications Seminar

Quantum Hall Effects, Berry's Phase and Superconductivity
Series: Analysis, Dynamics, and Applications Seminar
Location: MATH 402
Presenter: Nicholas Ercolani, Department of Mathematics, University of Arizona

This talk will provide some physical and mathematical motivations underlying the idea of topological phases of matter. Time permitting we will also introduce the Chern-Simons-Ginzburg-Landau mean field model for Quantum Hall effects which motivates what will be discussed in this week's Mathematical Physics seminar.
