Mathematics Instruction Colloquium

Designing Culturally Relevant Tasks for Math 112
Series: Mathematics Instruction Colloquium
Location: MTL 120
Presenter: Jocelyn Rios, Mathematics and Math Education, University of Arizona

This talk focuses on some preliminary ideas of what culturally relevant curriculum might mean in the context of Math 112. I will share some insights I learned from interviewing former students of color about their experiences in Math 112. I will also discuss ideas for making the Math 112 curriculum more culturally relevant and provide examples of culturally relevant problems that were developed through the course of this project.
