Mathematics Instruction Colloquium

ChatGPT Discussion
Series: Mathematics Instruction Colloquium
Location: Math 203
Our next Math Instruction Colloquium will be held on January 30th from 4:00 - 5:00 pm in Math 203. As we will be discussing ChatGPT we decided to have it write and invite you so without further ado take it over ChatGPT.

Dear [Name],

We hope this email finds you well. We wanted to schedule a Math Instruction Colloquium to discuss the ramifications of ChatGPT and how it compares to similar AI programs for mathematics.

As you know, ChatGPT is a large language model developed by OpenAI that has the ability to generate human-like text. On the other hand, AI programs for mathematics have the ability to perform complex calculations and analyze data. Both types of AI have the potential to revolutionize the way we work, but they also raise important ethical and societal questions.

The meeting will take place on [Date] (January 30th) at [Time] (4:00 - 5:00 pm) and will be held via [Zoom/Teams/etc.] (Zoom: https://arizona.zoom.us/j/84520935405 password: teaching) as well as in person in [room] (Math 203). During the meeting, we will compare the capabilities and potential applications of ChatGPT and AI programs for mathematics, as well as explore the ethical and societal implications of these technologies.

Prior to the meeting, please take a few minutes to read this (the attached) essay from The Educationalist.

We hope to have a robust discussion around the ways in which programs and applications such as ChatGPT will reshape our approaches to teaching and assessment.
