Leveraging version control to accelerate research
Series: Data Research Training Group Seminar
Location: Hybrid: Math 402/Online
Presenter: Criston Hyett
Abstract: Version control (e.g., git/github) is often touted for its ability to track work and provide backups; however, this undersells its true capacity as a natural entry-point to an ecosystem designed to reduce cognitive overhead and accelerate progress. In this talk we will cover the basics of git, the git workflow, and how this workflow can accelerate your project while baking in the tenants of open-science (reproducibility, trustworthiness) from the start. Come to learn git, and stay to learn why!
