Graduate Student Colloquium

The Work of Shimura, An Introduction to Shimura Varieties
Series: Graduate Student Colloquium
Location: ENR2 S395
Presenter: Spencer Nelson

Shimura varieties are a higher dimensional analog to modular curves and are of great interest to the Langland's Program and the subject of Number Theory more broadly. In this talk, we will explore some of the basics of Shimura datum and Shimura varieties as well as some important results. We will focus on the geometry of Shimura varieties at a level that should be accessible to anyone who has taken or is currently enrolled in the core Topology/Geometry course.
