Designing courses and tasks for inquiry and equity
How can we provide our students with rich, meaningful learning experiences? What work can we do to ensure that all students have access to, and benefit from, such experiences? In inquiry-based mathematics education, both of these goals are front and center. In this talk, we will explore ways to tinker with the individual tasks we give our students to open them up for inquiry and sense-making. We will discuss how equity plays a part in how we design and implement these tasks. And we will discuss how to weave together these themes when designing and planning a course.
