Trimmed Serendipity Finite Elements in Firedrake

We present an implementation of trimmed serendipity finite elements in 2 and 3D using an open source python package called Firedrake.  These elements can be used for problems that require H^1, H(curl), or H(div) conforming elements on meshes of squares or cubes.  In this talk we will discuss (1) what is Firedrake and what are trimmed serendipity finite elements, (2) implementation and use of trimmed serendipity elements in Firedrake, and (3) a comparison of how trimmed serendipity vs tensor product elements behave on a variety of test problems.
