SIAM Lunch with an Applied Math Alumna, Professor Annalisa Calini
Annalisa Calini is an alumna of the Program in Applied Mathematics here at Arizona, obtaining her PhD in 1994. She is now a Professor and Graduate Program co-Director in the Mathematics Department at the College of Charleston. Once being one of us as a graduate student in our Program, she has since built a successful academic career developing a strong research program in integrable systems, nonlinear PDEs, and geometry while teaching and mentoring students. And, in a field underrepresented by women, her success and story as a female mathematician is all the more special and inspiring. Come with questions and enjoy informal discussions over lunch with her to get wisdom and perspective about academic careers, what to do in graduate school, how it has been to be a woman in mathematics, and more.
