Math Placement, Transfer Credit/Credit by Exam, PPL (Math Placement Test) → Math Placement General Information → First Year Students: I want to try to place into a higher math course for fall. What are my options?
TAKE THE PPL ASSESSMENT: If you want to try to qualify for a course, make sure you have taken the PPL Assessment (Math Placement Test).
- Fall 2023 First Year Students can take the PPL two times through their Next Steps Center at no additional cost.
SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES TO IMPROVE MY PLACEMENT: There are several opportunities for students during the summer.
-
- You can take a summer credit course through:
- UArizona New Start Summer Program, which begins June 12, 2023.
- Taking a summer class at UArizona. Consult your academic advisor if you are considering this option.
- Taking a summer class at non-UArizona institutions. If you are considering this option, make sure you are taking the correct course. Check here or submit an evaluation.
- Participate in a UArizona non-credit summer review program, Wildcat LEAP. Math workshops begin June 5 and July 5.
- If you participate in New Start, you cannot participate in Wildcat LEAP. There really isn't time to do both programs.
- If you are not able to participate in New Start or Wildcat Leap, you can review on your own before retesting.
- If you have taken the PPL, you can use the Prep and Learning module to review before testing again.
- You can take a summer credit course through:
