Traveling waves may obtained by using complex coefficients. The figure on the right is a snapshot of the real part of y, as obtained from a numerical simulation of the model with
m = 1, n = 0.1, a = 1, b = 0.2,
W = 1, h = -0.3, g = 1, d = 0.8,
z = 0 and e = 0, for which y is now complex.
Note the presence of numerous dislocations. These defects interact with each other. Many of them will combine and annihilate as the pattern continues evolving.
