131 Hammond ‘Multiplex’ Mathematical Typewriter

This typewriter was owned by Dr. James Clay, formerly a professor in the Mathematics Department (1966 - 1994). It has extra support for typesetting mathematics. Each key may be used for typing four different symbols, depending on whether or not the ‘caps’ key and the ‘fig’ key are depressed. Also each symbol may be positionedvertically, to form part of the numerator or denominator of a quotient.
