I grew up in New Jersey and went to school in Ridgewood, a small town about 10 minutes from the George Washington bridge into Manhattan. New York City seemed pretty glamorous to me when I was growing up. I still wonder at how effectively Central Park encouraged the illusion of being far removed from the hustle and bustle of the city .
