Introduction to Cryptology
(with an eye towards public-key cryptography)

This workshop is a prerequisite for the Public Key Cryptography (21Nov98) workshop.

  • Deciphering activity: students are given cyphers of common phrases and are to decipher them. Prizes may be awarded.

    • Function properties (1-1, onto)
    • Cryptaid on the board

    • Circle Thingy or Caesar decoded
    • Remainder activity to explain why A=0
