Math 464 - Prof. Kennedy - Fall 2010 - R projects

There are two extra credit projects. Each is worth a maximum of 2 percentage points to be added to your course average (on a scale of 100). These projects are entirely optional. The deadline for both projects is the last day of class. You can turn in one or both earlier and I will grade and return it within a week.

Write up and grading

For each project you should turn in a write up that is like a short paper. Exposition is important. Your write up should explain what you did in a way that would make an English professor happy as well as a Math professor. The write up of your project should have two parts describing what you did in all parts of the project. It should include the R code and the results of your simulations. To get full credit your example should be non-trivial, the results of your simulations should agree with your calculations and the write up should be well-written, neat and complete. It need not be typed, but typed write ups are welcome.

The R website

R is a free software package that can be downloaded from lots of places. The above link is the official website. Downloads are available for Windows, Mac and Linux.
