Celebrating our Graduating Student Employees

As part of a new effort by the Department of Mathematics to publicly recognize student employees, below we celebrate the hard work of many of our graduating student employees. The department supports a large number of students, faculty, and community members; the dependable work of student employees, who help keep classes and departmental programs running smoothly, deserves an abundance of recognition.

We understand that there may be some graduating seniors missing from this list, but we wish all of our student employees the best of luck in their next endeavors! We will miss you all, but we are so grateful for the time we have had with you.


Jaxon G. 

Jaxon has been an Undergraduate Learning Assistant (ULA) for MATH 129 and is majoring in Chemistry with minors in Math and Geochemistry. After graduation he will be taking a gap-year to work as an MA before med school. “I have really enjoyed the connections I have made with staff and students,” Jaxon shared, “My favorite memories were carrot days in MATH 129, and the review sessions for MATH 223 exams.”

Benjamin F. 

Benjamin has been an Undergraduate Learning Assistant (ULA) for MATH 129. He is majoring in Software Engineering with a minor in Math. After graduation, he has a job lined up at Raytheon but would love to get into the agricultural industry. “The interactions I had with students throughout the semester were the most enjoyable part of my job,” Benjamin noted, “There are no particular memories, but the continuous development of those peer relationships made it worth it.”

Aurora W. 

Aurora has been an Undergraduate Learning Assistant (ULA) for MATH 223 and is majoring in Physics with minors in Math, Astronomy, and Computer Science. She will be attending a PhD program in Physics after graduating. Through her job with the department, she loved learning to teach and working with students during office hours.

Zachary Y. 

Zachary has been an Undergraduate Learning Assistant (ULA) for MATH 129 and will be receiving a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering. He’ll be working as an engineer for the 5th Space Launch Squadron in Florida. “I've always enjoyed the interactions with my students,” Zachary shared, “It's incredibly satisfying to witness the ‘Aha’ moment as the concepts finally click and mesh together in their heads. A couple of my favorite memories from these past few years are the bowling nights and karaoke. Also, a group of my students would always call me ‘mustache man’ to get my attention.”

Matthew J. 

Matthew has been an Undergraduate Learning Assistant (ULA) for MATH 163, majoring in Statistics and Data Science with minors in Computer Science, Information Science, and Spanish. While he’s still deciding what to do after graduation, he hopes to either use his degree for a job or pursue grad school. Matthew noted, “I think being able to communicate ideas/concepts from class to students has helped me with soft skills that will be useful for my whole life!”

Regina S. 

Regina has been an Undergraduate Teaching Coordinator (UTC) for MATH 100, and is majoring in Physiology and Medical Sciences with a minor in Biochemistry. She hopes to attend med school after graduation. Regina notes that the job “made me less nervous about leading a space and talking to groups. It really helped me have confidence in my leadership skills and my own judgment.”

Lauren G. 

Lauren has been working as an Admin & Proctoring Coordinator (APC) for MATH 100. She is majoring in music education and hopes to get a Master’s in Music Therapy for special education students after graduation. “Working for the Math Department allowed me to utilize my problem-solving skills,” Lauren shared, “it taught me how to work in an organized and efficient way, it showed me how to reach resolutions through supportive and uplifting actions, and I learned the importance of leaning on my team.”

Anay P.

Anay has been an Undergraduate Learning Assistant (ULA) for MATH 163 and is majoring in Statistics and Data Science with minors in Math and ISTA. With a plan to move to Boston to work as a Data Engineer, Anay’s goal is to become a Data Scientist and possibly work abroad. “I have always loved being able to teach and help students and peers understand concepts in different ways because everyone learns differently,” Anay wrote, “so being able to contribute to helping others has been very rewarding.”

Zoey F. 

Zoey has been an Undergraduate Learning Assistant (ULA) for MATH 129 and will be receiving a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science with minors in Math and Urban & Regional Development. After graduation, she will be getting a Master’s in Resiliency Practice here at U of A. She shared that she most enjoyed “working with friends and helping friends that are taking Calc 2, having fun weekly meetings with our teaching team, and helping in the tutoring room”.

Kendal M. 

Kendal has been an Undergraduate Learning Assistant (ULA) for MATH 163 and is studying Statistics and Data Science with minors in Computer Science and Japanese Language. With a plan to work as an analyst after graduation, Kendal eventually hopes to go to grad school for Biostatistics or Public Health. “I enjoyed interacting with the students and helping them succeed, and I also like making friends with my fellow TAs and the teaching team in general,” Kendal shared. 

Madeline W. 

Madeline has been an Undergraduate Learning Assistant (ULA) for MATH 116 and is majoring in Biology with a Biomedical Emphasis and a minor in Spanish. She will be attending Law School in the fall and is interested in the intersection of law and science. "I have made lifelong friends!” Madeline wrote, “Forever thankful for all the Math Department has given me.”

Chloe F. 

Chloe has been an Undergraduate Teaching Coordinator (UTC) for MATH 100 and is majoring in Statistics and Data Science with a minor in Computer Science. She will be continuing with a master’s degree in SDS at U of A after graduation. “I have really enjoyed working with students and being able to help them,” Chloe shared, “I have learned how to explain difficult topics to students.”

Jovi G. 

Jovi has been working as an Undergraduate Learning Assistant (ULA) for MATH 113 while studying Finance & Law, securing a full-time job as a credit analyst in a banker development program. “I have worked with so many great members of the faculty and met so many great peers,” Jovi shared, “I would consider all of us on the MATH 113 team a huge friend-group.”

Carolina F. 

Carolina has been an Undergraduate Learning Assistant (ULA) for MATH 129 while studying Biochemistry with a minor in Pharmaceutical Sciences. She is planning on going to pharmacy school for a doctorate degree. “I enjoyed the fact that I got to meet the best people and make friends that I hope will last forever,” Carolina noted, “I think it's too hard to be able to pick just one memory to be my favorite.”

Jacob G. 

Jacob has been an Undergraduate Learning Assistant (ULA) for MATH 223. He is studying Electrical and Computer Engineering as well as Math, and he is planning on completing a second internship at the Arizona Public Service before returning to U of A to complete a Master’s degree. “Being a ULA has allowed me to engage with students of all backgrounds and learn how to better communicate mathematical concepts,” Jacob shared.

Raahi R. 

Raahi has been working as an Undergraduate Teaching Coordinator (UTC) for MATH 100 while majoring in Molecular and Cellular Biology with minors in Biochemistry and Economics. With a goal to earn a Master’s degree in Cell Biology and Computational Biology, Raahi shared that working as a student employee helped develop skills that will be beneficial in the workforce. “What I’ve enjoyed most about my job is being able to help students and witness the difference I can make in real time,” Raahi shared, “It’s especially rewarding to see someone come in feeling confused or frustrated and leave with greater confidence and a stronger understanding of the material.”

Jacquelyn B. 

Jacquelyn has been an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant (UTA) for MATH 100. She is double-majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular & Cellular Biology with a minor in Creative Writing. With a plan to attend medical school and become a doctor, Jacquelyn shared, “I have most enjoyed working alongside many compassionate and inspiring young adults as we aim to help students get comfortable with learning math.”

Harrison B. 

Harrison has been working as an Undergraduate Learning Assistant (ULA) for MATH 263 while majoring in Molecular and Cellular Biology with a minor in Physiology. Hoping to find a position in an immuno-biology research lab, Harrison shared, “I have enjoyed being able to help students one-on-one during tutoring and working in a collaborative team environment.”

Roderick F

Roderick has been an Undergraduate Learning Assistant (ULA) for MATH 113. He is majoring in Economics with minors in Math and Spanish, and hopes to work in consulting, eventually pursuing higher education. “My favorite memories come from the rest of the staff,” Roderick noted, “we have grown close through the years, I still keep in touch with previous ULAs.”

Jill S. 

Jill has been working as an Admin & Proctoring Coordinator (APC) for MATH 100. She is studying Medicine with a concentration in Basic Medical Science and hopes to one day become a surgeon. “My 4 years with MATH 100 have significantly helped me build my people skills, especially how to help students who were stressed/concerned,” Jill shared, “These interactions have prepared me to communicate with patients in the future.”

Rodica (Alex) C.

Rodica has been an Undergraduate Learning Assistant (ULA) for MATH 263 while majoring in Physiology and Medical Science with minors in EMS and Biochemistry. With a plan to take a gap-year to work in UAEMS Leadership, Rodica eventually wants to become an Emergency Room Physician. “The most enjoyable part of my job is helping a student with a difficult concept and seeing that ‘lightbulb’ moment where they suddenly understand everything we've been talking about,” Rodica reminisced,”There is something extremely rewarding and gratifying in knowing that the student's and my hard work paid off!”

Mark C. 

Mark has been working as an Undergraduate Learning Assistant (ULA) for MATH 223 and is studying Mathematics with an Applied emphasis and with minors in Linguistics and Korean Language. He hopes to pursue grad school and be able to find the solution for the most efficient path for learning. "The opportunities involving mathematics education allow for my active participation in understanding and developing better learning environments, which I can take into graduate school,” Mark shared, “Shoutout to May, Deborah, Shankar, and all those who I have met from this opportunity.”
