Arizona Advanced High School Math Scholars Program

Arizona Advanced High School Math Scholars Program

The Arizona Advanced High School Math Scholars Program is the result of a unique partnership between the Department of Mathematics, the UA Honors College, and the Thomas R. Brown Family Foundation.

This program provides an opportunity for advanced, motivated Southern Arizona high school students to study mathematics beyond the high school curriculum with engaged faculty and like-minded students.  Depending on their mathematics preparation, students will be able to earn 3-6 units of college-level mathematics credit per academic year.

This program is designed for students who have:

  • Completed the highest level of math offered by their school or district, and successfully completed the AP Calculus BC exam with a score of 4 or 5
  • Recommendation of high school calculus teacher
  • Approval of high school Math Department Chair and principal
  • Interest in taking mathematics coursework beyond Calculus II
  • Ability to attend in-person or fully commit to an asynchronous online class
  • Committed to a full semester program

MATH 223, Vector Calculus course, will run the normal semester dates in asynchronous online format. Once the student successfully completes MATH 223, we are able to offer other courses (such as Math 313 or Math 254), which will be one-semester in duration. Depending on their mathematics preparation, students will be able to earn 3-6 units of college-level mathematics credit per academic year.
